| Bio: | Well, here I am. I don't much like writing these bios, but I suppose I ought to inform you, the reader, what you're getting into. My name is Tai. I am just shy of 26 years old, and have been almost totally blind since birth due to being born prematurely (I weighed only one pound nine ounces!). I am finishing up my masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Utah. I'm still taking evening classes, so I am currently looking for a job to keep me occupied during the daytime hours. After completing my MPA, I plan to go to law school at the University of Utah. I was admitted for the class of 2006 but needed to defer due to my husband's recent cancer diagnosis. My husband Nick and I have been together for just over four years and were married March 25 2006.Nick is just the most incredible guy in the world, and I hate to see him suffer with this cancer. He is going through various treatments to stabilize and/or kill the cancer cells. He is in a great deal of pain and we both feel so helpless with no control over this monster. In 2004, we purchased our first house together. Our life togehter has just begun, and we hope and pray that Melanoma will not cut it short. Nick is my Melanoma warrior.
We have one really annoying pet dog named Alex and sometimes she just bugs the crap out of me! I am originally from the state of Vermont, but have migrated over time out west to Salt Lake City, land of the Mormons (no, I am not one of them--they haven't managed to convert me yet). The politics out here are unusual to say the least. Until recently, I lived in Fayetteville, AR. I never thought I'd say this, but I actually miss being there. I am one of 23 adopted siblings in a single parent family. My mother is an incredible woman. My siblings come from various countries all around the world. I have learned so much from them and have come to appreciate their differeing experiences and points of view. I have a retired dog guide named Chica. Advocating for others and the preservation of social justice are just a couple of my passions and I am currently pursuing a career in law. I hope you enjoy reading my journal entries! |
